It’s our last night in Gig Harbor, the town we have lived in for 23 years. Good Bye.
Tomorrow we begin our nomad life – with no definitive time frame as to when we will plant our roots again. Or where.
But the truth is, the chance of our next home being in Gig Harbor is slim. We aren’t ruling it out, but for many reasons we think we will settle somewhere new when the time comes.
So tonight I insisted to my husband that we take a stroll on the waterfront. Just the two of us. No fan fare or fuss. Just a stroll to admire the historic harbor and appreciate the beauty of this community. As we walked my heart felt full as we passed many things in which I had a hand in developing.
And yet, we are not sad. We know we are doing the right thing and we are fully focused on the future and not the past. Moving on, unafraid, together. Life became so much better, when I stopped trying so hard. We are in for the ride, whatever that brings.
Local friends – I will be around (in Kitsap) off and on over the next four months, between trips to Hawaii, Idaho, Ireland/Scottland, Norway and a cross-country road trip in the fall. In late November we depart for two years. So between now and November I do hope to see many of my local friends.
To readers of this blog I have never met (and there are so many of you!), thank you. Thank you for your continued support and interest in the silly things I have to say here. I’m always amazed at your response to this blog. I am sincerely looking forward to sharing our travels with you, starting tomorrow as we head to Hawaii for a month. I hope you enjoy coming along for the ride.
Life should not be spent standing still. For me, keeping it interesting and unexpected, and of course FABULOUS, is what life is about. Living everyday as if it were my last. I am buckled in, ready to go.
But one last time – farewell to my beautiful community of nearly a quarter century. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
Go! Be! Fabulous!
